How long does a short sale stay on a credit report?
A short sale will stay on your credit report for 7 years from the filing date. Most lenders will not want to work with borrowers who have a recent short sale.

When deleting a short sale, does the mortgage that was involved still remain on my report or is it deleted entirely?
The mortgage will stay on your report, but all derogatory markings including late payment dates and the derogatory status on the account will be gone. The mortgage will show a perfect payment history and a “Paid” status.
